April started off as a really good reading month, but ended up not being so great towards the end because that's when I went into a reading slump that I couldn't really get out of it. I spent this month trying to catch up to my Goodreads goal so I read a lot of shorter books. It would've worked out if I kept it up but unfortunately, life had other plans. But, reviews! Reviews Bossman by Vi Keeland I don't know what it was about this book that didn't do it for me. I really thought this was going to be another one of those steamy books I love, but for the most part, it was okay. I think the past vs. present story line wasn't something I really enjoyed. While I get that the author was trying to show the tragic past of the male protagonist, I felt like it was dragged on too long. It could've been told as a prologue and then I would've felt more attachment seeing his side of the story as well. I found this to be a little predictable and overall meh in the sex...
It's been a while since I've posted a readathon TBR here on my blog, because I have been a lot more active on YouTube these days, but I haven't been able to film recently because of family stuff going on. I still wanted to have a TBR list to refer to though so I decided why not write up a post. So here is my tentative TBR for the Emojithon!
✌🏼 Read it or Peace Out: Mystic Summer by Hannah McKinnon
♥️ Romance/Contemporary: Playing Hurt by Holly Schindler
👯 Buddy read: Night Film by Marisha Pessl
🤖 Sci-fi: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
😍 Bought cause of the cover: Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins
😱 Thriller: The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
👶🏻 2017 Release: When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
I am going to try and get to all the challenges, and a few of the books I have picked out already do fall under several of them, but I am sticking to just this list for now. Once the readathon ends, I will post a wrap up of all the books I read. Happy reading and I hope everyone who is participating has a great reading month!
